Christmas 1978 - Part 1 of 3 (Teaneck, NJ, Dec 1978
Dave(y) was the first of his generation in all of our families. This was his first Christmas, and we had tons of company. He had just turned one, and could already walk. You can see the transition of the tree from something that had to be attended to every minute, to having a chair block his way.

Look at the chair blocking access to the tree.

One of the last trees before the ubiquitous red cardinal made its appearance on the tops.

Betty and George still lived 5 minutes away in Teaneck (not a coincidence, Betty found our house for us), so we were able to see a lot of them and their kids.

Betty's and Rae's Families (Bronx, NY, and California, ~1957 and ~1995)
Back in Miami, and now I have access to the 6,000 old family pictures again.
The left-most child below is my cousin Verne (Cousin #17/Ray's #2), who I've somehow missed in all these pictures. Just two more of my 19 first cousins to go! To the right of him are his sister Marci, and Ilene and Larry in front of Betty and George.

And here are the four of them again, about 50 years later.

Harry Edward Fisher, 1929-2009, Part 2 (Various Places and Times)
From this past New Years Eve.

With his mother and sister Annie.

The boys who married the 3 Cohen sisters.

He loved going on cruises, and even took 2 freighter cruises.

Gardening in Rochester.

When he was younger, he was an avid photographer.

With his mother.

Being affectionate with Bud (I think that's Bud). Who is in the forground??

Greenmeadow, Part II (Palo Alto, CA, Summers 1991-93)
During all three of our Greenmeadow summers, Dora hung out a lot with the Cooke family around the corner. Margaret was around her age, and had 3 (I think, and judging from the pictures) younger sisters and a little brother (who called Dora "Doe-fully"; he couldn't manage "Dorothy").

The rest of these are more family pictures; see yesterday's post for commentary.

Brothers and Brothers-in-Law (Bronx and Queens, NY, Jan 1954 and Oct 2008)

When I saw this picture in our scanned collection, I was immediately reminded of the picture below. The one above goes with my post about Betty and Annie and my parents' two families; it is from Betty and George's wedding. L-to-R are George, the groom; Bud, Betty's older brother; my father, B&G's brother-in-law; and Stretch, Betty's best friend's just-married husband, now her brother-in-law, sort of. Since Betty lived with us for several years, until not long before she was married, she was close to all four of these men.

From Dora and Norman's wedding, L-to-R, Norman; his older brother Steve; Dave; and Norman's younger brother Ryan. (Another picture stolen from Dora without permission.)

Betty and Annie (various locations, around 1954)
My mother was the oldest of 6 siblings, my father the oldest of 4. They were married when they were 17 and 16 years old, respectively, and their families lived on Washington Avenue in the Bronx, just a few blocks away from each other. As a result, all the kids in both families hung out together, and were all friends to some extent.
The best of friends were my father's sister Annie and my mother's sister Betty. They married Stretch and George, respectively, a few apart in January, 1954.

Betty (left) and Annie at Betty's wedding.

At Betty's wedding, that's Annie's husband Stretch (Irving Jacobson) standing next to Betty's father at the alter.

Betty and George (not quite married yet) at Annie's wedding. They got married right after that.

And finally, Betty and her sisters Rae and Sue at Annie's wedding. (My mother undoubtedly did the annotating.)

Elizabeth's Baby Shower (Teaneck, NJ, late 1977)

At Betty's house. Elizabeth was pregnant with David. In front: Gail (Lopez? our next-door neighbor), unknown (unless that's Rae, but I don't think it is), Ilene, Betty, Elizabeth. In back: Mike Rudahl, Judy Justin, Evelyn Ruhdahl, Sue Fisher (my mother), Sue Fisher (my aunt), George, me. Ilene is 1st cousin #1 (Cousin #1/Betty's #2). I'll see how many of my 19 1st cousins (!) I have pictures of.
